Summer Camp

By 1964 Howard started going to camp in upstate New York, Camp Wellman. He loved going to camp, his parents were thrilled they never thought they would be able to afford camp for their children. Howard said camp was an oasis for him for an entire six weeks. His friend Dr. Lou bunked with him and they used to have a lot of fun, they played softball together, even though Howard wasn’t good in sports. Howard said he remembers when the camp would go out in the woods camping which he didn’t like, he remembers having to lash two logs together to make a toilet and everyone could see you going, he said he would hold it in for two days. They also had to make their own lean tos, build a fire pit and cook their own meals, to this day Howard said he is not a fan of camping. Howard’s first love was a girl named Irene they started dating at 13, he broke up with her when he was 14 because Dr. Lou thought he should play the field, Howard said he often thinks about her….Howard has since tried to get her on the show, however she refuses.
